Some of the news archives date back to the 18th century. There is a timeline view available to help you select news from a specific period.
Historical U.S. Newspapers OnlineA guide to historical U.S. newspapers that are freely available on the Internet. If dates of coverage are included in an entry for a newspaper, the source may or may not include all issues within the listed time period. Also, the dates of coverage were correct when they were added to the entry, but may have changed since they were recorded.
Open Access DigitizedThis list includes many resources that are NOT available for free. BUT - scroll through the list and look for "Open Access Digitized Newspaper Collections." You will find historical collections of newspapers organized by United States regions. There are also other resources in the whole list that may be of interest.
