DATABASE HOT TIPS

1) WHY USE DATABASES (OVER GENERAL WEBSITES)?

  • Databases are easily accessible for use at PADUA - AND - at HOME!!!! (Just be sure you have access to the list of usernames & passwords that is gmailed to you at the beginning of the year if you accessing from home.)

  • Content in databases is reviewed and evaluated for authority, accuracy, and currency, so your teachers will recommend and approve of databases.

  • Databases provide Padua students with FREE access to current, accurate, reliable, and academic information since their yearly subscription cost is covered by the Padua Library.

  • As a bonus, many search options are provided in the databases to help you limit or expand searches and most importantly...to help you find what you need!!! Plus, many databases assist with easy saving and easy citation.

3) MRS. FRECH'S DATABASE TIPS

  • USERNAMES & PASSWORDS: You will most likely need usernames and passwords when accessing databases from home, so be sure you have the "Database Usernames & Passwords Quick Chart" that is emailed to you from the Padua Library each semester. If you cannot find that information, gmail Mrs. Frech or contact your teacher.
  • SAVING DATABASE INFO:  The most reliable way to save information (especially using Padua Databases) is to *****SEND TO YOUR GOOGLE DRIVE*****  Keep in mind that a SAVE feature on any site isn't truly saving unless you have created an opened a personal account with you information.
  • HELPFUL HINT - OTHER RESOURCES:  If you are not finding what you need, then you should check out the AMAZING & FREE databases offered by the CCPL (Cuyahoga Country Public Library) or MCPL (Medina County Public Library) or CPL (Cleveland Public Library).  All you need is a Library card.  Click on this hyperlink to go to the LibGuide page that explains what you need to know.

GALE DATABASES (Cengage Learning) (Also NCEMC) ***A PADUA STUDENT FAVORITE OPTION***
