CATCHER IN THE RYE: THE PSYCHOLOGICAL HOLDEN DIAGNOSIS (Schepis): WEBSITES: Suggested Sites for Various Subject Areas

This LibGuide is intended to assist students with their psychological diagnosis of Holden Caulfield in The Catcher in the Rye.

IMPORTANT SUGGESTION: For academic research, always try databases first...and then these websites...and then Google.

IMPORTANT SUGGESTION:  If you are looking for academic research, then be sure to explore the databases provided through the Padua Library first (see the "DATABASES: List of Padua Databases" tab above). The content in subscription databases is reviewed and evaluated for authority, accuracy, and currency, so teachers will always recommend and approve of databases. Databases are created for student use, so they are very user-friendly. Plus, citations for your Works Reference and/or Works Cited pages are provided.

***SUGGESTED WEBSITES INFO & TIPS***

  • Typically, a good rule-of-thumb for academic research is to avoid .com (commercial) & .net (network) sites...and to stick with .edu (education), .gov (government), and verifiable .org (organization) sites. That being said, there are some good .com sites out there, but you must always be critical when using these sites for academic research. When looking at any website, always be on the lookout for bias, and always be sure your source provides authoritative (author), accurate (reliable info), and current (publishing date) information.
  • In the lists below (categorized by subject area), you will find some recommended websites. (Remember to check out the Padua Databases as well. See the note in box above).
