PRINTING IN THE PADUA LIBRARY (GOOGLE SLIDES, DOCS, ETC.)

PRINTING TIPS:

  • Printing Station: The official Printing Station (for B&W or COLOR) is located at the high-top table in the Padua Library.
  • Emergency Back-Up: In the event that the Library is closed (or just if more convenient), there is a B&W only printer located in the Counseling Wing.
  • Print vs. Fix/Edit: You should not be fixing or editing anything at the Print Station. Do that on your Chromebook. To keep the line moving, the Print Station is reserved for Print & Go.

PRINT PREVIEW TO AVOID WASTED TIME & RESOURCES:

  • When you go to print, please look at the PRINT PREVIEW, because it will print exactly how it looks.
  • Since settings hold over from one person to the next at the Quick Print stations, you should also look over all major areas of the PRINT PREVIEW (including info under “MORE SETTINGS”) and fix settings if necessary before printing.

    • Do you only need a certain stretch of pages? If yes, click Pages > Custom > and type in pages you need (example: 2-5)

    • Do you want COLOR? If yes, be sure it’s selected; otherwise, unselect it.

    • Does the sizing/scaling on the Print Preview look strange? If yes, be sure to check that paper sizing is set to letter & scaling is set to default.

    • Do you want double-sided? If yes, be sure it’s selected; otherwise, unselect it.

WARNINGS:

  •  Cell Phone Use Warning!!!: If you need to go on your phone to upload pictures during school hours, be sure to ask the Librarian/Teacher on-duty if it's okay to do that so you do not get into trouble for cell phone use.
  • No Late Passes!!!: Be aware that there is often a long line for the printers on Project Due Dates (especially those required in color), so do your best not to be last minute, because I cannot give late passes.

NOT PERMITTED - FULL COLOR BACKGROUNDS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE:

Feel free to add digital images (clipart, photos, etc.) to add creativity to your projects where it applies; however, please SAVE INK AND DO NOT WASTE RESOURCES!!!!

  • While teachers often require a creative element to projects as part of the grade, please do not fulfill that requirement by creating/printing your pages with FULL COLOR backgrounds. Teachers are being asked to deduct points for this because it is a wasteful & complete drain of color ink (refer to below image):

PAPER (COLOR & CARDSTOCK):

  • You could use color paper if desired, though it is not required; however, you would need to come during off-times so that you are not interrupting a line of students to wait for your paper to come out.
  • Cardstock, however, is NOT permitted in laser printers because it drags the ink.

CANVA PRINTING TIPS
